Lesson is aimed for students who have experience with Scratch Jr. Student new to coding will need adult support. Students will work on the basics of programming, problem solving and critical thinking skills with Scratch Jr. In this one time class, teacher will model how to code using Scratch Jr. Students will work on the following skills: - create/modify characters (sprites) - code one or more characters - change the look the background - use hide command - add voice to characters - add second page (if time allows) It is very beneficial to join class using a different device in order to see teacher's screen while coding. Students will need to download the app: Scratch Jr. before class.

Students will have to download the Scratch Jr. app. The app is free and does not require user account. The app can be downloaded on a chrome book and/or tablet.

Hello! My name is Cynthia Burleigh. I live in Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor in Science in Information Systems. I started my career in a banking institute, but quickly realized I wanted to become a teacher. I have been working in education for 15 years, 3 years teaching with Outschool. I am Bilingual Certified - speak English and Spanish and teach Bilingual and ESL students. My teaching experience includes: Robotics, Codings, Spanish, Pre K - 3rd grade Bilingual instruction, Bilingual Reading Specialist, and STEM teacher.
