During this theme, students will learn about electronic musical instruments and build their own digital instrument with code. Key concepts studied will include sequencing, lists, and operators, among others.

The teacher will work with students to create a project they can be proud of while answering questions and providing support along the way.

> Note for Parents:
Your student will need:
- a free p5js.org account
- Access to a laptop or desktop computer
- An internet connection of 3mbs+
- A working speaker

Note: Please make sure an adult is on hand for the first five minutes of class to help set-up and tackle troubleshooting. iPads and tablets are not compatible and will not work for this class. On many occasions the students will be coding the arrow keys on a keyboard.

Lists - Setting up the sounds array to contain multiple arrays. Accessing a specific item in the sounds array using two indices.
Loops - Using nested loops to make a grid of squares.

Lesson 1:
Lists, Loops, and Coordinates
 Setting up the sounds array to contain multiple arrays. Using nested loops to make a grid of squares. Setting the coordinates of each square based on the counters of the nested for loops.

Lesson 2:
Sequencing, Operators, and Lists
 Discussing sequencing and reviewing how loops and conditional statements alter a sequence. Using comparison and logical operators to code logic of clicking on individual squares. Accessing a specific item in the sounds array using two indices.

Sequencing, Conditions, and Functions
 Discussing the sequence of the core p5.js functions. Coding what happens when different menu items are selected. Creating the stopSounds function and calling it when a button is pressed.

Lesson 4:
Challenges
 Kilo Challenge
Variables: Using the loop counter to modify the color.

Mega Challenge
Operators: Using comparison and logical operators to create the condition checking for where on the canvas the mouse was clicked.
Functions: Calling the stopSounds function that was created in a previous lesson.

Giga Challenge
Lists: Adding a fifth array to the sounds array.
Loops: Editing the various for loops in the project so that there will be 5 rows of squares rather than 4.
