Class Experience

Hop into a world of creativity and coding in this Easter-themed Scratch class! 🐰💻

Whether your child is brand new to coding or already loves to create with Scratch, this 90-minute class is the perfect mix of learning and fun. Designed especially for ages 6–10, this experience encourages young learners to think like game designers as they build their very own interactive Easter maze game! 🌸🥚

🧠 What will be taught?
Students will use Scratch (developed at MIT) to create a maze game where the Easter Bunny floats through a colorful world, collecting hidden eggs. Along the way, they'll explore essential coding concepts such as:

Moving sprites with arrow key controls 🎮

Using randomness to place Easter eggs throughout the maze 🥚

Writing conditional statements to check if the Bunny touches an egg or a wall 💡

Creating variables and timers for advanced gameplay ⏰

🎯 What topics will we cover?

Game design principles

Motion blocks, sensing blocks, and control logic

How to design a maze that’s fun and challenging

Debugging and testing their own Scratch projects

Optional: scoring systems and countdown timers for an extra challenge

🎨 How is the class structured?
Here’s the breakdown of our exciting 90-minute adventure:

👋 Welcome + Introductions (5 min) – Get to know each other and talk about the day’s goal!

🧑‍💻 Scratch Setup (5 min) – Help students get logged in and ready to code.

🕹️ Code a Maze Game (70 min) – Guided coding session with live teacher support, step-by-step instructions, and lots of opportunities for students to customize their game!

🎉 Show & Tell (10 min) – A chance for students to showcase their work, share their Easter mazes, and celebrate their creativity!

🗣️ Teaching style & interaction
This is a highly interactive class, not a lecture! Students are encouraged to ask questions, share their screens, and get live feedback throughout. With a class size capped at just 6 learners, your child will get personalized guidance in a fun, relaxed setting. We use friendly discussion, step-by-step demos, and live coding support—plus a dash of silly bunny fun along the way! 🐇💬✨

🧑‍🏫 What makes this class unique?
We don’t just teach coding—we empower young learners to think creatively, solve problems, and express themselves through technology. Each child leaves with a finished project they can keep, show off, and continue developing on their own!

Learning Goals

By the end of class, students will confidently create Scratch projects using loops, sequencing, conditionals, and variables—building essential coding skills that prepare them for future creative and technical challenges.
