Description

Class Experience

After completing these classes, students will be comfortable coding and creating projects with Scratch. Even more importantly, they will have gained an understanding of foundational coding concepts including sequencing, loops, conditional statements, and variables. At Cypher, our goal is to help students become future-ready, and we know that these core skills will serve our students for the rest of their lives.
Your student will need: - A Scratch account. Visit https://scratch.mit.edu/ to create a free account. - Access to a laptop or desktop computer with Zoom installed and screen-sharing enabled - An internet connection of 3mbs+ - A working speaker, microphone and webcam - all Windows and Mac operating systems of the past five years are supported Note: iPads are not recommended, but reach out to our team if you have any questions. Please make sure an adult is on hand for the first five minutes of class to help set-up and tackle troubleshooting.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will use Scratch to participate in class. Students must access the Scratch account using a laptop or a computer in class (no smartphones, iPads or tablets). Students will use their own Scratch account to code while following instructions from the teacher. Students may continue to use their Scratch account outside of class.
