In this dynamic weekly class, advanced Scratch students will think like designers, diving into creative coding projects that include games and animations. Learners will build their skills in various coding concepts such as sequencing, loops, conditionals, variables, sensors, operators, and debugging, making each session an exciting learning experience! 🤖🎨

✨ Class Structure:

Welcome & Introductions (5 mins) 🎤: We'll kick things off with a warm welcome and introductions to create a friendly atmosphere.

Collaborative Scratch Project (30 mins) 💻: Students will collaborate on an engaging project, applying their knowledge and creativity to build a game together.

Brainstorming & Customization (15 mins) 💡: After coding, students will have time to brainstorm ideas and customize their games, adding unique elements that reflect their creativity.

Showcase & Goodbyes (5 mins) 👾: The class wraps up with students showcasing their projects, allowing them to share their hard work and learn from each other.

🌟 This class is designed for advanced Scratch users, who are familiar with Scratch blocks and have completed prior projects. Our intimate class size, capped at 6 students, ensures a highly interactive environment where I can provide personalized support and guidance.

If a student misses a session, a starter file will be sent to help them catch up so they can seamlessly join their classmates. Students can join this ongoing class at any time!

September 30th- October 27th: Puzzles

October 28th-November 24th: World Travel

November 25th-December 22nd: Obstacle course

December 23rd-January 19th: Extreme sports

💻 Note for Parents:

Your student will need a free Scratch account. Visit Scratch to create one!

A laptop or desktop computer with Zoom installed and screen-sharing enabled is essential.
An internet connection of 3mbs+ is required.

A working speaker, microphone, and webcam—compatible with all Windows and Mac operating systems from the past five years—are necessary.

Note: iPads are not compatible due to keyboard usage. Please ensure an adult is available for the first 5 minutes of class to assist with setup and troubleshooting.
Learning Goals
By the end of this class, students will confidently code and design advanced unique projects in Scratch. They will master essential coding concepts, including sequencing, loops, conditionals, and variables, preparing them for future challenges in coding.

Parental Guidance
Students will use Scratch to participate in class. Students must access the Scratch account using a laptop or a computer in class (no smartphones, iPads or tablets). Students will use their own Scratch account to code while following instructions from the teacher. Students may continue to use their Scratch account outside of class.

🖥️ Scratch Account: Create a free account at Scratch.

At Coco Coders we teach children between the age of 6-14 how to code at our Live Online Clubs and Camps through exciting themed content such as architecture, fashion and conservation to name a few. Depending on age, we teach using a variety of programs and languages including Scratch, JavaScript and CoSpaces.

Coco Coders has been teaching children how to code since 2016 at in-person and live online clubs and camps. We have amazing teachers on-board who are super passionate in helping your child get future ready! 

We don't believe in creating a world of little computing scientists but we created a curriculum that allows our students to gain an understanding of computational thinking concepts for whatever career they choose to go into in the future!
