Chemistry 301 -Physical & Chemical Properties (3 of 7) [Science]
Science, Chemistry: (Part 3 of 7) In this class, students will gain a basic understanding of the difference between physical and chemical properties and changes. They will also explore more into the properties of solids, liquids and gases.

What did the hispter ice cube say? "I was water before it was cool." This class is designed to provide an more in-depth look at the states of matter. Many topics will be covered over this 5 week class that will give the student a better understanding of solids, liquids, and gasses. Students will have the opportunity to practice what they learn each week. Week 1: Review States of Matter & Chemical vs. Physical Properties -> Video: States of Matter Review -> Video: Chemical vs. Physical Properties -> Fill in the blank note sheets for each video -> Practice problems Week 2: States of Matter and Temperature -> Video: Heating and Cooling Effects on States of Matter -> Video: Phase Changes -> Fill in the blank note sheets for each video -> Practice problems Week 3: Properties of Solids & Liquids -> Video: Properties of Solids -> Video: Properties of Liquids -> Fill in the blank note sheets for each video -> Practice problems Week 4: Solutions -> Video: Solutions -> Fill in the blank note sheets for the video -> Practice problems Week 5: Properties of Gases -> Video: Properties of Gases -> Video: Ideal Gas Law -> Fill in the blank note sheets for each video -> Practice problems This is a flexible schedule course, meaning that there are no live meetings. Each week, new videos, notes pages, and practice problems will be posted to the classroom. The student should upload their completed practice problems to the classroom (either scanned or picture taken) for feedback from the teacher. There will be a discussion thread where students can ask for help from the class and the teacher. To get the most out of this course, the teacher will provide notes pages with blanks for the students to fill in as they watch the videos. Students are expected to complete the practice problems each week as the material builds upon itself weekly. The teacher is always be available via message (either in the classroom discussion or private message) and will typically reply within 12 hours, but never more than 24 hours unless extenuating circumstances.
Learning Goals
Students will have an understanding of the Chemical vs. Physical changes

Teacher expertise and credentials
3 Degrees
Doctoral Degree in Engineering (General) from North Carolina State University
Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from United States Military Academy
I have taught chemistry and chemical engineering at the college level, and have been teaching science to home school elementary, middle and high school students for 10 years. I know how to present science in a fun way to boost students interest in the subject.
