Class Structure: Pre-Reading (10 minutes) Briefly introduce the chapter. Discuss any relevant vocabulary. Share predictions based on the chapter title and cover illustration. Independent Reading (15 minutes) Students read the assigned chapter quietly. They will take notes in their notebooks, jotting down thoughts, feelings, and any questions they have. Group Discussion (20 minutes) Students share their notes and feelings about the chapter. Explore character motivations, themes, and connections to their own experiences. Address any questions or confusions they may have. Reread for Clarity and Fluency (10 minutes) Reread the chapter together, pausing to clarify any difficult parts. Focus on fluent reading, encouraging students to read expressively. Wrap-Up (5 minutes) Recap key points discussed. Assign the next chapter for independent reading and note-taking. Materials Needed: Copy of "The Mouse and The Motorcycle" (each student should have their own copy) Notebook or journal for jotting down thoughts Writing utensils Optional: Markers or colored pencils for illustrations related to their thoughts
