Learners will develop essential graphic design skills using the Canva website and create engaging projects such as infographics, animated videos, social media posts, and logos.
Taught by teacher Lauren Bonenfant in the Apples2Zippers organization: I was a K-8 school computer/technology teacher from 2016-2021 and incorporated Canva programs in my curriculum for Grades 6-8. I use Canva on a daily basis to create well designed educational materials for my Outschool classes and other freelance work. I also hold a Masters degree in Teaching and Curriculum with an Educational Technology concentration.
Homework Offered
Optional, if needed: Students may want to add on to their projects after class, depending on how complex they choose to make them. Students are welcome to continue working after the live class sessions end.Assessments Offered
Optional: Students may request verbal teacher feedback on projects (finished or in-progress) during each class session. Students are also welcome to request written teacher feedback on their finished projects after class. Please send requests for feedback through a private message in the Outschool classroom.Grades Offered

A Canva account is REQUIRED for this class and this Canva account should be created specifically for the learner only. (This can be a Canva account they already have OR a new one if they’ve never used Canva before.) **NOTE: All learners in this class are 13 years old and up so Canva accounts can be managed by the learner themselves. However, Canva does require an email address for sign up. If the learner does not have their own email address, please verify with a parent which email address to use instead. **Canva is a FREE online program, but does offer a paid PRO version. Either the Free or Pro versions are suitable for this class.

A Canva account is REQUIRED for this class and this Canva account should be created specifically for the learner only. In this class, learners will design graphics that could be used in social media posts, either for a pretend account OR one they actually use. Learners will always be told not to share social media handles with classmates, as stated in Outschool’s policies. **Learners are expected to wait until AFTER CLASS to post any graphics they design on their own social media accounts, if they choose to do so.** Parent supervision is recommended when learners search the internet for images or other information to ensure appropriate and accurate searches. **Canva is a FREE online program, but does offer a paid PRO version. Either the Free or Pro versions are suitable for this class.
