Welcome to "Exploring Canva for Graphic Design - Teen Edition," a course designed for teens aged 13 to 17. This course introduces students to the essential principles of graphic design through engaging, hands-on projects using Canva, focusing on personal interests and creative expression. Class Experience: Classes build progressively, starting with basic design principles and moving to practical applications. Interactive sessions include individual projects and collaborative activities focused on creating designs that reflect students' interests. Student Interaction: Students will engage in individual and collaborative projects, applying their skills while gaining feedback in a supportive setting to enhance critical thinking and communication abilities. Requirements: Technology: A computer with internet access (tablets/iPads not recommended). Materials: Provided digitally through Canva. Class Continuity: Attendance is crucial as content builds progressively to develop comprehensive design skills. Late Enrollment: Not permitted to ensure all students start with the same foundation. Unique Learning Needs: Inclusive design with clear instructions and visual aids to support various learning preferences. Evaluation: Students are assessed through design challenges in each session, applying concepts learned in class. Feedback will guide their learning and development. Teens will start by exploring the importance of graphic design and familiarizing themselves with Canva’s interface. They will learn fundamental principles such as alignment, contrast, and balance. Lesson 2:
Designing Custom Posters
In this lesson, students will learn to design custom posters that reflect their favorite movies, bands, or causes they are passionate about. The lesson will cover the use of color, fonts, and images. Lesson 3:
Creating Album Covers
This session focuses on designing album covers. Students will learn about layout, typography, and imagery, focusing on how these elements work together to create an appealing design. Lesson 4:
Designing Personal Logos
Students will dive into the world of branding by designing their personal logos. This lesson will cover the significance of shapes, colors, and typography in logo creation.
