This course uses a combination of discussion, lecture, activities, short videos and research. Our weekly topics are subject to change depending on the needs of the class and the timing of lessons.

Some prior knowledge required. Learners should be comfortable reading simple texts and writing independently.

We will create a supportive and respectful learning environment where learners feel safe and comfortable. Learners are welcome to banter and ask questions to challenge our thinking, but respectfulness and taking turns while speaking is required. Disrespectful language and hateful chats, posts, etc., will not be tolerated and will be grounds for removal from the class. Should disagreements arise, we will practice being respectful even if you disagree.

The minimum number of learners for this course will be upheld. If less than 3 learners are enrolled one week prior to the course starting, the course will be cancelled and families will be refunded.

Parents may email me prior to enrolment with any questions about the course!
Learning Goals
Learners will be able to examine Canadian and global maps, discuss the way our local environment affects our daily life, and use social studies vocabulary to communicate their knowledge.
