Beginning Reader Phonics Fun: Learn to Read, Write, and Spell CVC Words
In this cyclical 5 week class, students will develop phonemic awareness and learn how to write, spell, decode, and read CVC words using a multisensory approach. Great for struggling readers, students with dyslexia, and ESL students as well.

Description
Class Experience
In this interactive, multisensory phonics class, students will expound on their knowledge of letter/sound relationships to begin segmenting, blending, and decoding CVC words. Class Outline: - Each class will begin with phonemic awareness activities by reviewing letters and letter sounds we will focus on through a multisensory approach of attaching a sound, picture, and motion to each letter. - Next, we will then tap out the sounds we hear and then blending them together. - Then we will...
Learners Will: - Develop phonemic awareness - Orthographically map high frequency words - Segment, write, blend, and decode CVC words - Apply skills learned to read a decodable text
I am a licensed teacher with 14 years of experience with a Reading Endorsement. I recently have completed the Tools4Reading 45 hour training in the Science of Reading. I have experience teaching preschool through second grade and as a Reading Specialist working with struggling readers in kindergarten through 8th grade.
Although this it is completely optional, I will provide additional materials listed in the class description to allow your learner to practice these skills throughout the week until our next class.
Learners will be provided the following materials to download: - Word Mat - CVC tap, blend, and read words sheet for each vowel sound - CVC decodable sentence pyramids for each vowel sound - CVC tap, blend, and write worksheet for each vowel sound - CVC decodable book for each vowel sound
During the lesson, I will constantly be assessing students to provide feedback and immediate reteaching if needed.
