Beginner Level
In this ongoing class, students will practice writing a sentence. This course meets twice a week. In each class, students will write a sentence on a different topic. Students are welcome to join anytime. Students will be given a sentence stem. Students will complete the sentence and then, will rewrite the entire sentence. Each class will follow the same structure. Below is a breakdown of each class. ****** TOPIC INTRODUCTION ****** At the beginning of each class, I will give a question to the students. ******* BRAINSTORMING ******* Students will draw two pictures that represent their response to the question. I will check in with each student. Students will share their answers to the question. ******* COMPLETE THE SENTENCE ******** I will model how to complete the sentence stem. Students will complete their sentence. I will help students sound out their words. After students complete the sentence, they will write the entire sentence. Depending on the writing level, students may have time to write two or more sentences. Here are examples of what a sentence stem may look like in this class: - One activity I enjoy doing is __________________. - On a sunny day, I ________________. ****** SHARE THE WRITING ****** Students will share their sentence with the class.
