::::::::::::::::::::::::::: What will be taught? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Please see the syllabus. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How is your class structured? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: We will meet in zoom for 30 minutes TWICE a week. The class will have slides with easy to see illustrations and sensei will explain and model the pronunciation and the use of grammar/expressions. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How will you teach? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: On zoom through Outschool platform. External resources such as Quizlet for vocabulary decks, Padlet for simple application assignments, and Google Drive/Slide/Forms/Spreadsheet for collaborative work with classmates for between classes assignments. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: What's your teaching style? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Easy-going, but perhaps because of the subject I teach, most students are really respectful, which I truly appreciate. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? ::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Learning a foreign language is all about interaction!! There will be interactive class activities for informal assessments. Certified teacher for Japanese (EC-12), Mandarin(EC-12) and Art(EC-12). I grew up speaking Japanese, Mandarin and Taiwanese, so I have no problem mixing them up to meet your need. Many years of freelance tutoring experience for Japanese and Mandarin have helped me teaching all levels of Japanese including Pre-AP and AP classes at my former employment at a public high school.
I am also experienced in curriculum building for 4 years of Japanese language education based on ACTFL proficiency standards as a former school teacher. As I teach more and more students from all over the world, I have become more familiar with CEFR rating as well as GCSE tiers.
I am an active board member of JTAT(Japanese Teacher's Association of Texas) and I host workshop webinars for JTAT members as well as give presentations at foreign language teachers' conferences to offer opportunities to learn new skills, new strategies, and best practices.
