Homework
1-2 hours per week. There will be 1-3 pages of homework per week. Please send a photo of it once completed so I can correct it.Assessment
Informal assessment.Class Experience
This class is for students who want a one-on-one approach, or who think they are in-between levels and would like to have a more personalized Japanese experience. Students will tell me where they are at with their Japanese, and can choose to focus more on certain aspects during lessons (For example, more speaking or grammar if you choose). Once students have begun the course and decide they want to continue courses, they can request a new class with the meeting times, durations, and times per/week adjusted to their liking. Intermediate and advanced students must use flashcards. I teach using Google Slides so students can see images and videos to match their new vocabulary. Each lesson includes review, reading and writing practice, new grammar introduction, and a chance for students to ask questions about homework. I provide students with many materials to use outside of class; including: -Youtube Videos (Numbers, animals, colors, days) -Games (Guess Who) -Japanese Stories -Japanese Culture Resources They will also need to memorize vocabulary outside of class so they can understand vocabulary in lessons. There are about 15-25 new vocab words each week.

Hello Parents and Students!
My name is Maya and I teach Japanese and Korean language and culture classes here on Outschool.
I have been working as a Japanese teacher since 2018 and have certificates in advanced Japanese and Teaching Second Languages. I have taught over 200 different students and over 800 Japanese classes.
I was also a bilingual advisor and translator at a Japanese university for 5 years and worked extensively providing academic and personal guidance for students in Japanese.
I also taught English and studied in Korea and often travel around Japan, Korea, and the US. I especially love Okinawa and Osaka in Japan and Daejeon and Busan in Korea! Studying and working in Japan and Korea has been one of the best experiences of my life and I love to share more about these two countries with students who are also passionate about East Asia.
My hobbies and interests include anime, manga, K-Pop, drawing, and board games.
Due to my background in second language acquisition in multiple languages and cultures, I understand the best ways to help students learn, and different teaching styles to help all types of learners.
With my background as a student advisor, I am also experienced in helping more challenged students as I want to help all my students learn at their own pace while having fun!
My motto is that “Learning is just another word for fun!” I hope that all my students can find genuine enjoyment and love for Japanese!
I look forward to seeing you in class :)
Thank you! ありがとうございます! 감사합니다 !
