In this one-on-one animal drawing class, students will learn to sketch a realistic orca/killer whale, using pencil. I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where discussion between teacher and student is encouraged and a great place for students to make lasting friendships. I ask students questions throughout the lesson to check for student understanding and increase engagement. ...

1. Students will learn techniques to sketch a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of an orca, using pencil (full body). 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. Students will learn techniques to create water reflections on the orca's body, using pencil, an eraser, and a white gel pen (gel pen is optional). 4. Students will learn a few facts about orcas.
