Supply List
***IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ*** I will use Canson's cold press watercolor paper, 140 lb/300 g, but students can use what paper they have. Cold press paper has more texture, whereas hot press paper is more smooth. Students are welcome to use either type. If you are unable to purchase watercolor paper, students can use thick sketch or mix media paper. As far as watercolor paint, there are a lot of different brands to choose from. Unless you want to, you do not need to purchase anything expensive. If you have a cheap set lying around the house, students are welcome to use them! I will use a mixture of watercolor brands, some being cheaper than others. If you want to invest in a higher quality watercolor paint, Windsor & Newton is a good option. There are also a variety of paint brushes students can use. Students DO NOT need the exact brushes I will use. If possible, I recommend students having a smaller fan brush, detail brush or very small round brush, and/or shader brush. I use the shader brushes mostly in sizes 10, 8, and 6. There are brush sets with a variety of brushes you can purchase at a reasonable price. Again, please do not feel like you have to purchase a lot of brushes for this class. Even if your student has a single brush, we will make it work. Students may use masking tape or washi tape for the boarders of their paintings. This makes for crisp edges, as well as helping the paper to not warp as bad. I will be using washi tape I found on Amazon. Tape that isn't super sticky is best so there is less chance of it tearing the paper. Art Teacher π¨ / Middle Grade Fantasy Author π/ Children's Book Illustrator π
β¨Welcome to my teacher page! β¨
After graduating with Bachelor's Degrees in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, I decided to make the leap of starting my author and illustrator career. Since then, I have written and illustrated my first middle grade fantasy book, Brush of Magic, with many more in the works!
Along with running my own art and book shop, I design and teach a variety of drawing and painting classes, ranging from realistic sketching, watercolor painting, fantasy drawing, and illustration. I have taught for about 9 years, 4 of which have been specific to art. I love the time I get to spend with my students, creating art, and chatting about booksβespecially if the books and art are whimsical or magical!
All the artwork, books, and stationary designs in my shop are created by me. I often find inspiration for my art and books through reading, spending time with my cats and dogs, and brainstorming imaginary creatures in my sketchbook.
Thank you for stopping by! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am always happy to help.π
