Class experience
Throughout history, the United States has seen 46 different men hold the office of the Presidency. Few of these men have stories as bold and as intriguing as that of Andrew Jackson. From his service in the Revolutionary War, to his policies that caused the suffering of thousands of Native Americans, this class will explore the complete story of this man who would leave a lasting impact on the United States of America. I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a declared minor in Psychology. In addition to my degree, which covers all academic subjects taught at the Elementary level, I have also completed multiple courses on American history and Western Civilization. Additionally, my studies included courses on developmental psychology. As a teacher, I have taught over 500 online classes, with over half of them being history courses. These lessons have covered social injustices and war. My focus on psychology and experience teaching such subjects plays an essential role in how this information is presented to ensure accuracy and age appropriateness.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parents should be advised that sensitive subjects will be addressed as part of this lesson. This includes the topics of war and slavery during the early years of the United States government and as the topic relates to Andrew Jackson who was a slaveholder. Additionally, the mistreatment of Native Americans will be covered as it is central Jackson's life and legacy. Addressing these these topics in a straightforward and age appropriate manner is my highest priority. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and reflect on these topics.
