Lesson 1
Ancient Egypt in Less Than an Hour - (Ages 11-14)
This is a one time class. We will travel to ancient Egypt for less than hour. During our trip, we will visit the Pyramids of Giza, learn about mummies, discover some interesting and important inventions that came from ancient Egypt, and we will learn how to write our name like an ancient Egyptian pharaoh. We will be learning from looking at pictures, listening to some facts and doing some brainstorming as we find the answers to some informative questions.
For the past 10 years, my wife and I have been living and studying in Egypt, which really helps to strengthen and benefit the information in my ancient Egypt related classes. We are here now currently enjoying our studies and exploration.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
In this class we will talk about mummies.
Here are the top sources that I use in my Ancient Egypt classes.

2 - "Writing in Ancient Egypt" by Marc Coenen

3 - "Reading and Writing in Ancient Egypt" edited by R. B. Parkinson

4 - "The Materiality of Writing: A Trace Making Perspective" by Steven Roger Fischer

5 - "Black Pharaohs: Egypt, Nubia and Cultural Misperceptions" by Robert Morkot

6 - Khan Academy [1] - It is a free online learning platform that offers courses on various subjects, including Ancient Egypt. Khan Academy's courses are designed to provide an unbiased and comprehensive overview of the topic.

7 - Ancient Egypt [2] - This website provides a wealth of information about Ancient Egypt, including its history, culture, and society. It is an excellent source for learning about the perspectives of marginalized groups, such as women and slaves.
