Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
During this class, students will participate in enjoyable, scientific discussions about human inventions inspired by nature. We will be learning from looking at pictures, watching some short videos, and listening to some facts and doing some brainstorming as we find the answers to some informative questions. In class we will help to engage the learners and makes the information more receptive. We will also have a little project assigned to work on that we can discuss in the online classroom discussion.

In this class, we will answer the question, "what is biomimicry? We will discuss 3 specific aquatic animals (Octopus, Humpback Whale & Dolphin) and how human inventions have been inspired by them.

Also during class we will have the opportunity for each student to make a drawing and brief description of something they would like to invent based on the animals we discussed in class.

Learning Goals

Students attending this class will gain an understanding of biomimicry and how we continue to benefit from the amazing aspects of animals in nature.
