Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Students will embark on a virtual adventure of the Amazon Rainforest, which spans a significant portion of South America. As we travel, students will be encouraged to examine their surroundings in order to answer the questions in their investigation notebook. Questions will range across the following:

How long do you think it took this rainforest to be here? Short, long, why?
Consider the size of the trees. How does size relate to the age of the trees? (trunks, length of tree branches)
What sounds do you hear?
Based on the environment of the rainforest, what do we think the plants need to grow, and survive?
Why do you think the water is brown?
What types of animals live there? Why do you think that?
What is the weather like?
Why do you think people live there? What resources are they using? What do humans need to survive? How are they surviving there? Can we survive there?
Why do you think things have been changing in the forest?
What does he mean by the forests provides for everyone?
Do you think it is ok that the people living there are being pushed out?
What does it mean to conserve and protect the environment?
What is a conservationist?
