Class Experience

This class exposes students to letter sounds and letter names, while also giving students the opportunity to work on social skills, such as speaking, listening, and waiting their turn. They will learn from each other by seeing other objects that begin with the letter, listening to the words students use to describe them, and of course, they will learn through their own sharing experience as well! The first few minutes of class will offer an introductory video and song, which will highlight how to write the letter and the sound(s) it makes. Then, students will have the opportunity to share their items with the class. If there is enough time left at the end, I will challenge students to go find one more item in their house that begins with that same letter. Parent involvement is encouraged. This is a great class for young children to have an engaging and hands-on introduction to letters, along with a great opportunity to practice and build social and language skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am offering this particular class because I know how important early exposure is for children. I teach 4 year olds in an At Risk Pre-K classroom, and absolutely love my time with them! I have taught for nine years in public education, with my last 2 years being in Pre-K. This is the perfect way to begin exposing and engaging young learners to letters, because it connects the alphabet to their own world.
