In this ongoing class I will reveal a letter of week for us to practice .  Afterwards class will continue with a catchy song to identify our letter and it's magical sound. This gives us a chance to get our wiggles out and warm up for class. Students will then have opportunity to use fine motor skills to make letter with playdough on mats and then write the word with markers on dry erase boards.  Playdough time really strengthens our hands.  We will then rest our hands and Iisten together to a  story focusing on the letter or week.  To end our class, students will share something from their home that relates to our letter for show and tell.  I will post the focus letter each week to give students opportunity to find something.  This is a great time for students to practice speaking and using language.
In my classes I use the model-  I do, we do.  you do  where I introduce, we practice together and then students have independent time. Young learners need many opportunities to adapt language skills and connections to sounds and words.  I will give students chances to share orally or by giving thumbs up.  Some learners are reluctant to speak in new environments.  I am patient and understanding.  It takes time to form a relationship with teacher and peers.
