US Grade 8 - 11
This is a flex class. That means that there are no live classes but there will be teacher interaction. Each week, I will post the week’s lessons and assignments in the form of videos and Desmos lessons depending on the concepts. Students will submit quizzes and interact with the teacher or class via messaging or classroom posts. I will get to know you as a student through your work and your messages to me as well. The purpose of teaching Algebra 2 in this format is to allow learners more flexibility in their schedule, the subject matter will be as rigorous as other Algebra 2 classes. I will also be available to meet by request. Algebra 2 is a rigorous course designed to prepare students for PreCalculus. Students must have completed Algebra 1 and Geometry before enrolling. If you need an academic grade in this course, you will need to complete and turn in assessments in order for me to determine a grade. Students should have a TI -84 Calculator or equivalent (may be online)and learn to use it. You can use online calculators if necessary but learning how to use a graphing calculator is a process that takes time. Algebra 2 is the foundation to prepare for future high school math classes such as Precalculus and should be taken with the intention to learn. Homework will be required but answer keys will be posted. Assessments will be used to track student progress. Please request a letter grade if required. I have a Masters of Mathematics and am a licensed secondary math and financial literacy teacher. I also teach a math class for a local university. I love the exploration of math and plan to explore it in all of my classes. I also have a love of real world application and will also be teaching financial literacy courses.
My semester long classes will include plenty of exploration but will also be courses that will allow students to understand and practice concepts. As far as core classes go I teach Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus and Financial Literacy.
I have taught in ages 12 to 18 in a traditional classroom. I have also spent time volunteering and substituting in elementary math classes. I have worked with many students that have math anxiety and look forward to working with your students.
Feel free to request classes. I teach both integrated math as well as algebra, geometry, trignometry and statistics as well as financial literacy. I have received certification through NGPF to teach financial literacy.
