US Grade 1 - 4
In this class, students will learn about the fearless Fannie Lou Hamer who made a difference in America by putting her words into action. She fought tirelessly for equality and rights for black people. Although, she was brutality attacked and knocked down because of her race, she continued getting back up and moving forward. Students will learn about her early life and her life as a civil rights activist. They will understand how she fiercely fought for voting rights. We will talk about her contributions to the civil rights movement, and how she was able to help make a change for many people in America. They will learn about her struggles as an African American woman and how she able to overcome them. We will also discuss her leadership characteristics. By the end of the lesson, students understand why Fannie Lou Hamer is an important historical figure who deserves recognition for promoting social change. This class will be very informative and it also connects to my other African American classes. This lesson will be interactive, and each student will have an opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions. If you have any questions about the class or suggestions please send a message. This class could possibly go over 30 minutes, as I love to give all students the time speak if they chose to do so.
