Projects

1 hour per week. Students will be presenting their work at the end of every week in order to receive critique! I will be guiding students step by step to create small projects every week.

Grading

I will be critiquing students' work weekly in class as they complete projects under my guidance.

Beginner Level

Students will be editing along with me as we learn the basics of Adobe After Effects! 

I will be sharing my screen and allowing students to see each key click as I show them the basic tools and functions of the program. Each photo that we use will be provided by me as we edit and change elements of photos, videos, and designs.

The beginner course is as follows, but can change and adapt as a student needs.

Interface and the Timeline 1

 Practicing how to interact with the timeline and the interface of the program by animating a bouncing ball, part 1!

Effects and Presets

 Using the effects and presets menu to alter and filter the objects and images in your file.

Shapes and Masking

 Using shape tools and how to mask to reveal or hide certain areas of your piece.

Other Details

Parental Guidance

Scary or violent imagery will not be available or acceptable in this class. I will be providing the images and videos for students to manipulate throughout the class to ensure that they are appropriate for all ages. Adobe After Effects will be required for this course. There are other motion graphics programs that students may have, but I will not be using other programs during this class. The link to After Effects is below, and they offer different subscription plans for parents to choose from. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Pre-Requisites

No experience is necessary for this class! Access to Adobe After Effects is the only requirement for this class.

Supply List

Students will need access to a computer with Adobe After Effects. No other supplies are required! I will be providing appropriate photos to manipulate throughout the class.
