Projects
1-2 hours per week. Students will be completing small projects every week in order to move their short film idea forward. After which, the entire rest of the class will be working towards creating their short film of about 30 seconds.Grading
I will be critiquing students multiple times throughout the course of the short film creation, and students will come out with a portfolio of work for this project.Class Experience

Advanced Level
In this 1:1 class, students will be guided through the ins and outs of making their own short film. We will begin with writing a story that will be designed to last approximately 30 seconds. Then, we will begin the concept design, storyboarding, character design, environment design, and everything else required to be ready to animate. After the concept design, writing, and storyboarding are done, we will animate the short film from start to finish! Students may use their own software, and may be expected to complete parts of the project outside of class. I will be there for guidance and help along the way! I will encourage students to be creative and help them understand aspects of good storytelling, and good animation. We will have critiques in class along the way in order to have a professional looking project to the best of the student's ability! This 1:1 format is especially helpful for students who may need more guidance, or who are hoping to attend a magnet school, or go to college for animation.

Parental Guidance
No scary or violent content will be used in this class. Only age appropriate content will be used. Models and characters will be fully clothed at all times, and no gore, sexual, or horror content will be permitted.
Some third party tools are recommended below for students without animation software. NOT ALL RESOURCES ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS CLASS. Parents and learners can choose the one that suits their systems best. Please feel free to reach out with any questions if you are unsure.
For Krita, no accounts are required and it is completely free to use. This is a drawing and animation software that will be used as such.
For FlipaClip, no accounts are required within the app, and it is completely free to use. The only account required is one in the app store to download the app. There is a paid subscription that is not required for this class. This is a drawing and animation software that will be used as such.
For Procreate, no accounts are required within the app, and it is a one time payment of $9.99. The only account required is one in the app store to download the app. This is a drawing and animation software that will be used as such.
For Adobe Animate, an Adobe account is required, and is on a paid subscription model. This is an animation software that will be used as such.
Pre-Requisites
It is highly recommended that students complete the Beginner and Intermediate Animation courses, or to have been animating as a hobby for at least two years.
Supply List
Animation software and digital drawing materials are required. Free animation software is available depending on the devices you have at home! Feel free to reach out for recommendations if needed. Krita and FlipaClip will be perfect for this course. Krita can be used on PC and Mac, and FlipaClip can be used on the iPad. Procreate and Adobe Animate are also perfect fits! They are paid software. Procreate is a one-time payment of $9.99, and Adobe Animate is on a subscription-based model. ONLY ONE APP IS REQUIRED. Not all apps will be necessary for this course. All that is required is one app that allows your learner to animate.
