ACT English - Intermediate Level

Every week, I will provide detailed explanations for a brand new ACT English passage from the Official ACT Prep Guide 2022-2023 Edition. There are 30 English passages in this book, and each week we will go through 1 passage. Students may join or leave the class at any time, since each class will present explanations for a unique ACT English passage. After we have covered all 30 passages in 30 weeks, we will begin to use the Official ACT Prep Guide 2023-2024 Edition, which will be published by then. Students are required to purchase the Official ACT Prep Guide 2022-2023 Edition (at the link below) to participate in class. 

It is important to note that ACT English passages do not build on each other. Each and every passage is a stand alone assessment that tests the same skill set. Students do not need any prior experience with the ACT English section in order to be successful in this ongoing course. The "Intermediate Level" is meant only to denote the speed of instruction and depth of explanations, and is not an indication that students need to have completed a certain number of ACT English passages prior to joining the class. 

In this on-going class, I will teach my signature methods for answering questions on the English section of the ACT. Students will learn how to efficiently manage their time on this section, how to understand what the questions are asking, and how to easily eliminate incorrect answer choices. They will also learn how to navigate the passages without getting overwhelmed and build confidence in their ability to answer ACT English questions. By the end of class, students will be able to explain the steps for navigating questions smoothly and demonstrate their understanding by applying the methods on a practice assignment. 

Week of August 7th: English Passage I from ACT Practice Test #1 in the Official ACT Prep Guide 2022-2023 Edition 
Week of August 14th: English Passage II from ACT Practice Test #1 in the Official ACT Prep Guide 2022-2023 Edition 
Week of August 21st: English Passage III from ACT Practice Test #1 in the Official ACT Prep Guide 2022-2023 Edition 
Week of August 28th: English Passage IV from ACT Practice Test #1 in the Official ACT Prep Guide 2022-2023 Edition 

Since there is no end date for this class and it will be taught on an on-going basis, a new passage will be taught every single week. We will never cycle back to the beginning, but will cover 1 passage per week from the 2022-2023 version of the Official ACT Prep Guide each week (over the course of 30 weeks since there are 30 English passages in this book.) At the end of the 30 weeks, we will repeat this pattern with the newly released 2023-2024 Official ACT Prep Guide. In other words, the same English passage will never be taught twice. A brand new passage will be taught every single week for as long as the course continues, using the Official ACT Prep Guide. A new passage will be covered in every single class session. 

This class is taught at a moderate pace, and is designed for students who have some prior experience with the ACT English section or who have obtained a score between 20 and 30 on the ACT English section.
