Class experience

US Grade 9 - 12
This class is taught in English.
By the end of this section, students will be able to find distances between points and midpoints of line segments, identify angle relationships, and find perimeters, areas, surface areas, and volumes. They will also learn to make conjectures and find counter-examples for statements, use deductive reasoning to reach valid conclusions, and write proofs involving segment and angle theorems. Lastly, students will be able to name and draw figures that need to be reflected, translated, rotated, and dilated, recognize, and draw compositions of transformations and identify symmetry in two- and three-dimensional figures.
I am certified to teach children for grades K-12. I have been working in education for many years and have seen students gain success with interactive programs. As a special educator, I have learned different techniques to work with all students to support their learning It is my knowledge, skill set, and love of learning that would make me a great educator for your child.
Homework Offered
Homework will be a review of the concepts given in class. It will be given at the end of each class and will be expected to be completed by the next class. If the student turns it in at least an hour before class, it will be graded and returned before class starts. Review will happen in the classroom if many students didn't understand the concept and a reteach needs to happen or there is a specific question.
4+ hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed with a mid chapter quiz and a test at the end of each topic. There will be a review and practice to ensure that students are learning what they are supposed to be learning.
Grades Offered
 1 file available upon enrollment
Most materials will be provided by the instructor. This will include worksheets and assignments needed to review. Students will need access to a printer to print notes and assignments. A basic calculator may be needed (TI-30x) or a graphing calculator (TI-84). If students have access to a smartphone or tablet, they can use a calculator app similar to Graphing Calc 2. They can also use the scientific calculator at desmos.com/scientific or the graphing calculator at desmos.com/graphing. These are my favorites. Students should also have blank paper (lined or unlined) for taking notes and writing examples, graph paper for the graphing sections, a ruler for creating straight lines and angles, a compass, and a protractor.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Parents should be aware that this course is a fast paced high school geometry course and students will be expected to have some knowledge of geometric skills.

Third Party Tools: This class has the occasional use of Nearpod for review and assessments/quizzes during class and Kahoot for a fun review during class. YouTube video links that can can be viewed at home if the family chooses may be posted in the classroom for extra support on more challenging topics.

Please note: if there isn't anyone in attendance, there will not be a class recording. I will wait in the class for the first ten minutes. If no one arrives after that, I will leave. I will post notes of what was to be discussed during class.
