Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 8
Intermediate Level
This class will cover the essential elements of middle school math. We will have a loose structure and the focus of lessons will rely on the areas in which students are struggling. I will have assessments for students to better understand where there may be knowledge gaps.

This class will align with middle school math curriculum and will ensure students understand the building blocks of math. The concepts taught in class are essential for understanding higher level mathematics.

Below is the course schedule however it is subject to change depending on students' proficiency in certain areas.

Class 1: Introductions, how to submit work, assessing math knowledge.
Class 2: Arithmetic and Number Sense.
Class 3: Continue class 2 work, move on to fractions, decimals, percentages--the relationship between them all.
Class 4: Patterns, graphing--finding the pattern of x and y.
Class 5: Factors and multiples, review.

Below are the resources used:

Khan Academy Grades 6, 7, 8 (aligned with Canadian/US curriculum)
Maths Progress International (aligned with British GCSE, secondary school maths)
Openstax Pre-Algebra textbook (all concepts of prealgebra)
Others (I love to find random math problem from youtube or google to throw into class periodically)

Good for students 10-14, or anyone interested in the essential building blocks of math.
