Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Reading and writing skills are important for improving fluency and content-based learning is one of the best ways to help students stay engaged. These classes will focus on introducing students to the wonders of the world. We will explore culture, tradition, language, science, and much more. Through each engaging unit students will develop a wide range of vocabulary and read through a diverse array of materials.

They will be prompted to stretch their knowledge and apply what they've learned with writing and speaking activities. This course will cover the Reading Explorer 1 textbook and content will be specifically tailored to address students' needs. This course is for young learners who want to enhance their English skills and open doors to new possibilities through the power of learning. This class is all you need to reach your English goals!

The class will last 3 weeks and cover different units of the Reading Explorer textbook. Each week will have 2, 50 minute classes focusing on vocabulary, critical thinking skills, and writing responses.

Planned schedule for the 3 weeks:

1. Week 1
Unit 1 Mysteries
Class 1: Reading and Vocabulary
Class 2: Critical Thinking Questions

2. Week 2
Unit 5 Science Investigators
Class 1: Reading and Vocabulary
Class 2: Critical Thinking Questions

3. Week 3
Unit 8 Animal Wonders
Class 1: Reading and Vocabulary
Class 2: Critical Thinking Questions

Students will be provided with class work as a downloadable PDF. If learners enroll late they can look through the previous PDF documents to try and catch up with the class.

Mr. Beck's teaching style: I make students get to work! Yes, I love having fun in class but I know parents want their learner to focus and make progress so I make sure to have a good balance of fun and 'work'.

Hello! I am an online teacher with 4+ years experience.

I have been teaching learners for many years in Toronto and abroad and strive to make my classes engaging and fun. I believe that learning should be social so I encourage students to participate and discover together. I love learning and sharing ideas about math, science, history, music, English, and much more. Students are always welcome to ask for help or clarification.

In Toronto, I run a nonprofit providing free tutoring and hope to grow this project to help students in Canada.
My favourite dish to cook is Thai curry!
