DISCOUNTS: One class half price $9 - included in price below (usually $72). ▬▬▬▬▬▬ INTRODUCTION ▬▬▬▬▬ Welcome to "Earth Sciences 4 Day Camp - Meteorology & Oceans", which focuses on the most dramatic physical forces controlling our weather and climate, with the aim of making learning fun and exhilarating. I think making learning enjoyable and bringing science to life is the best way to get kids engaged and learning without realising it. Please let me know if there is a time and day that suits you best and I can schedule this series for you in a few weeks time hopefully. This is not a complete Earth Science curriculum but covers many of the key aspects of the Oceonography & Meteorology part of many courses taught in schools. I also do a full 16 week Earth Science course (see my Class Listings for details). No previous experience necessary. ▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS SUMMARY ▬▬▬▬▬ 1) THE ATMOSPHERE, RAIN AND CLOUDS 2) AIR PRESSURE, WEATHER FRONTS AND TORNADOES 3) OCEANS STRUCTURES AND OCEAN CURRENTS 4) GLOBAL WEATHER PATTERNS, CLIMATE CHANGE AND HURRICANES ▬▬▬▬▬▬ CLASS STYLE ▬▬▬▬▬ I use PowerPoint presentations for all my classes, so I can mix text and multimedia and make the class more interesting. These classed will be run using an "intro-discussion-repeat" format. This means I will take a few minutes to introduce a topic, using images or videos wherever appropriate in order to bring the subject alive. Then we will pause to make sure everyone is keeping up and take questions. Then we'll move on to the next exciting sub-topic and supporting material, and then pause for questions after that one too. This means that you can enjoy the class however you like. Speak up and get involved, or just listen and enjoy with no pressure. These subjects are cherry picked to choose the most interesting, accessible and relevant Earth Science subjects for kids, so they learn to enjoy exploring the world around them. Hopefully inspiring them to learn more about Geology, Earth Science and Science in general ▬▬▬▬▬▬ LINKED TOPICS ▬▬▬▬▬ See my class listings for a full 16 week Earth Science course options https://outschool.com/classes/earth-science-middle-school-semester-geology-weather-oceans-erosion-and-astronomy-16-week-ongoing-iHIwy9ms?usid=6TRpenz3&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link FOR YOUNGER KIDS - https://outschool.com/classes/basic-intro-to-earth-science-geology-the-atmosphere-the-oceans-and-planets-16-week-ongoing-pa0JObd9?usid=6TRpenz3&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link
Learning Goals
To discover and learn without realising it, because you are having fun! By the end of this course students will know in depth details of the Oceonography and Meteorology parts of most Earth Science curriculums.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Some classes talks about Global Warming and Climate Change causing more frequent natural disasters. It also talks about mass extinctions including the possibility of humans causing one now (including ourselves) and has some drawn images of animals dying to become fossils. It is delivered in a upbeat manner with positive solutions (eg: switching to renewable energy), but the more sensative students may find these topics distressing.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
