Applying Earth Science to make scientifically accurate maps is an essential part of the growing hobby of World Building. We will use scientific principles & Inkarnate (a free map drawing software) to recreate Pangea & other fantasy maps.

Welcome to my 4 Day Summer Boot Camp "Earth Science of World Building" Here we spend 4 consecutive days revealing the secrets of how to build a scientifically accurate fantasy map. We will start by learning some basic Earth Science relevant to climate zones, ocean circuits and weather patterns. Then apply these to the supercontinent Pangea that existed around 220 million years ago, to recreate what its climate zones must have looked like. Then we can apply this knowledge to well known fantasy maps, such as Tolkein's Middle Earth and any other fantasy maps that the students want to create or examine. I will also teach basic map making techniques using Inkarnate - a free map making software application - https://inkarnate.com/ Classes will be in a lecture style using multi-media PowerPoint slides with opportunities for questions. We will cover the following topics: 1) Global Weather Patterns 2) Global Ocean Patterns 3) Mountains, Rivers & Deserts 4) Science and Map Making Please contact me if you have any further questions or need any other information.

Parental Guidance
Students can optionally make their own account with Inkarnate.com to build their own maps, but this is not essential and they can just watch me using it. Altenratively hey can just make drawings of their fantasy maps and we can work from those.
