**Please message me to request date, time, and topic** This one-on-one session is the perfect opportunity for a student who wants more in-depth study than a traditional group history class can provide. If a student has particular questions, or is intensely curious about a historical event, this is the opportunity to cover it all. After collaborating with parents and learners, I will create an ongoing class that incorporates a variety of historical media including maps, primary and secondary sources, political cartoons, and video. Possible topics include, but are in no way limited to... - Chapter discussions of "These Truths: A History of the United States" by Jill Lepore - Chapter discussions of "The Silk Roads: A New History of the World" by Peter Frankopan - The birth of modern America (1870-1900) - Connections between historical events and modern events - Evaluating change and continuity in history - The role of mass communication in modern historical movements - TV and the US Civil Rights movement - The role of the US in the world after WWII - Understanding the tools of foreign policy - Connections between nationalism, colonialism, and imperialism
