咆哮的二十年代到大蕭條

Classes 1 and 2 will cover The Roaring Twenties. We will discuss what the Roaring Twenties were and how after the Great War (WWI) people were looking for a change.  we will cover the Women gaining the right to vote and prohibition.  How Jazz influenced the culture and youth of the day. Students will discover the Harlem Renaissance and how this was a step in the direction of civil rights for all. How people lived, what they wore, what they ate, and how they spent money.  What did they do for fun? Then we will talk about how it all came to a screeching halt in 1929.

Classes 3 and 4 will cover The Great Depression. Students will learn what the Great Depression was and how it came to be.  They will learn about the banks failing and the stock market crashing and people losing everything.  We will talk about the Dust Bowl and how people packed up and moved West in search of a better life.  We will learn how the 1930's was a decade that changed the way of life for everyone and how war looming on the horizon affected the nation.  Then we will discuss how President Roosevelt enacted laws and programs to help the poor and those in need.

There will be no homework in this class.  I will supply handouts and other materials to help aid in the understanding of the material covered.  If a grade is needed please email me after enrollment so that I can provide you with proper materials. Students will not be required to mute their microphones during class unless there is background noise that will be disruptive to the learning environment of others.  I also will not call on students to answer questions or speak unless they volunteer.
