閱讀理解技巧 - 理解文本

In this class, your child will be practicing their English skills centered around the goal of understanding text. Perhaps your child's teacher has raised an area of concern and you would like your child to have some extra help in this area. I will be providing the texts so that children and I can work together. Comprehension questions and tips on how to improve reading, reading aloud and answering exam type questions are also skills that can be addressed depending on the focus requested by the parent. 

This lesson will include an engaging non-fiction text. 

Reading Longer texts require children to improve their skills in: 

1. Maintaining understandings about the information presented in the text. 
2. Handling more difficult vocabulary.
3. Scanning the text for information to answer questions about the text. 
4. Using contextual clues to help them work out challenging new vocabulary and incorporate into their everyday speech. 
5. How to answer retrieval (direct response), technique, inference, evaluation and author's purpose type questions and how to recognize what they are asking the student. 

I am a very experienced teacher and good at what I do so can adapt to what your child needs. Writing is an essential skill in their academic toolkit and helps with all areas of the curriculum and their daily life.

This is a great class for general improvement but also for children who excel at reading or those children who feel that they are not progressing at fast as their peer groups and are losing interest in reading.
