Students will read engaging text that is tailored to the child's specific needs and learn strategies to apply to answering reading comprehension questions that follow the text. I will use a variety of genres and will work one on one with the student. I model strategies initially, we practice and then the student will show understanding by applying the skills taught. During the session, students will work with me closely as I assist and model various strategies using slides, videos and other materials. During practice time, students might be asked to play a game to show mastery of concepts. We will cover poetry, fiction and non fiction text.
