Students will improve their understanding of the importance of personal hygiene and how science shows us why it’s important. Students will demonstrate their knowledge of the four main kinds of germs and the difference between good and bad bacteria. Students will have a better understanding of the immune system, how your body fights infections and what they can do to protect themselves from infections. Students will improve their understanding of dental health and the effects of poor dental care.
I have worked in healthcare for the last ten years. I’ve taught other healthcare workers the state/CDC guidelines of proper hand washing. I also worked in an adolescent psych hospital where we went over good hygiene and how to better care for ourselves.
Second device with the "Kahoot!" app for the end of class for peer interactive quizzes. There will be downloadable handouts as an extra resource but this is optional. We will be doing an optional experiment that will need: soap, water, hand sanitizer, 5 small pieces of paper, a pen, 5 pieces of bread, and 5 zip lock baggies. We will go over this experiment digitally as a class.
