課堂經歷
In this 30 minute slow flow class teens and preteens will focus on body awareness, stretching, and balance. This class is autism friendly and all students are welcome, regardless of ability. Some students tend to shy away from yoga, thinking it's too hard, but with the help of props like a chair, yoga block, or a rolled up towel, the instructor is able to help guide students through movements so that they not only avoid falling but also find more stability in their yoga poses. Improve body awareness and learn basic yoga poses
Ms. Rae has worked as a professional dancer and choreography for over 2 decades. She also taught yoga in New York City daycare centers for 3 years and for 2 years at Harbor Haven Camp in New Jersey; a camp focused on creating programming for special needs children. At Harbor Haven she taught yoga to students ages 6 to 15.
This class focuses on helping those on the autism spectrum to develop patience and body awareness. Students start class seated so that we can focus on awareness and reduce feelings of wanting to fall when in engaging in standing poses.
Optional: - a yoga mat - a chair
This class may be taught by Ms. Rae or one of Choreography by Rae's amazing instructors. Physical Advisory: This class involves physical movement. A yoga mat is not required. Practicing on carpet is ideal or on a yoga mat is ideal. If your child is practicing on a wooden floor please use a gymnastics mat or a yoga mat Particiption without shoes is recommended. Ideally the dance space will be at least feet 5-6 feet wide and free of obstruction. Participants have been known to dance in living rooms and bedrooms. By registering for this class it is understood that each family has considered the space the child is moving in and it's appropriateness for a movement based activity. By registering for this class it is understood that the instructor is not responsible for injuries that may result from participation including injuries that may result from children not following directions. Injuries may include, bumps or bruises (example: a kid spins and falls down), fractures/ sprains/ broken limbs (example: a kid chooses not to follow instruction and tries to do a back flip). By registering for this class it is understood that each family has considered the physical health of their child and has taken into consideration any restrictions on movement that a family physician has advised. While most movement is not vigorous enough to upset an individuals asthma, we respect that each individual has different physical abilities. Children are encouraged to stop any movement that causes physical or emotional pain.
Choreography by Rae has been creating self-confidence boosting programming since 2015. We're more than just movement. Academic and Life Skills: - Creative Writing - Essay Writing - Tutoring - Decluttering & Organization - Storytime Coding &...
