Class Experience

All films will be listed in the course content or posted in the classroom. All films will be PG-13, PG, or G. If there are special requests, they will be posted in the classroom for approval.

Students will explore movies from an analytical point of view and gain confidence in viewing film as a text. Students will be encouraged to analyze all components of a film, including director, cinematography, writing, dialogue, and figurative meanings.

Mr. Conway has an MFA in screenwriting, nine years of experience in education, and loves to share his love of film.

He will facilitate the discussion with three to four open-ended analysis questions. All students are welcome contribute and help lead the conversation. Students will learn film analysis terms and apply them to the movies they watched in the previous week.

Mr. Conway will provide a graphic organizer to help them take notes as they watch films. Occasionally, Mr. Conway will provide optional assignments to do outside of class to practice analysis or creative writing.

So grab a snack and let's talk movies!
