Complete Geometry over the summer! Or... use this class to get very strong on your geometry skills so that you ACE geometry in the fall! Either way, you'll find the instruction here very thorough with an emphasis on geometry concepts that will directly show up on the SAT or ACT. If you're just coming across this midway through the summer - don't be afraid to jump in - each concept is taught in a way that doesn't assume students recall previous concepts. As an instructor I'm accustomed to doing this as I teach a lot of SAT ACT prep and students need to be shown how to win at that test itself regardless what they recall. When a student is needing a refresher on skills needed to do a new concept, it serves as a great review for all and it's done in a timely thorough way that benefits the whole class. With each weekly session, I will walk students through needed skills for Analytical Geometry-- with topics that cover everything needed for a Geometry full course from rigid transformations, to triangles, to. With each topic, I will first walk through the steps needed to do the work, and then we will work through problems progressing from the easiest to the most difficult. Sessions are highly interactive, as I take time to ensure mastery and understanding along the way. Every problem that learners get stuck on is met with optimism and encouragement. These are opportunities for everyone to learn. Topics will be covered on the following schedule... I teach each unit independently so that if your student is just jumping into geometry, they won't be lost. All units will have nearpods and because this course is completed over 12 weeks - there will be many brief nearpods each week - each with a short assessment. Students will track their assessments and on a provided score sheet and keep a digital screen shot (very easy to do) of the assessment score on their private teacher-learner communication page so that parent and teacher can be aware of their progress and have these later for final grade certificate (if that's needed- some students like to take this class as a workshop to prep for the coming school year) If you need certification of completion from a teacher, I'm happy to help for families who have completed the work! If your student is jumping in mid-course and needs a second semester grade, that can be arranged with completed work. If a student misses a topic due to vacation, they can schedule private tutoring using Outschool so that they can get the class instruction and materials to be able to complete the assignments and get the transcript grade if needed. Or they can used their enrollment to watch the recording and complete the nearpods for those weeks on their own. Summer 2023 schedule - this covers the entire course! Week 1 : Geometry Terms Week 2 : Transversals, Angle Pairs, Midpoint & Distance Week 3 : Perpendicular Bisector/Distance Between Point and Line Week 4 : Triangle Angle Relationships Week 5 : Triangle Congruence Week 6 : Special Right Triangles and Triangle Side Theorems Week 7 : Midterm Exam Prep (emphasis on SAT ACT Geometry Prep) Week 8 : Quadrilateral Shapes Week 9 : Surface Area Week 10 : Volume Week 11 : Similarity and Trigonometry Week 12 : Transformations in the Coordinate Plane - Rotations and Dilations Week 13 : Circle Theorems Week 14 : Final Exam Prep (emphasis on SAT ACT Geometry Prep)
Learning Goals
To get strong at the geometry concepts required for high school geometry which will help students do well in Algebra 2 and precalculus.

Parental Guidance
It's a tutoring session. The parents and student determine the content within the constraints of Geometry.
Supply List
Learners should have a graphing calculator (TI-84 or similar), a compass, and a protractor. It's a good idea to always have pencil and paper when taking a math class. Most learners assume it, but as a parent, perhaps remind them because I notice that many times students are having to run in the other room to look for tools to write with and paper to write on. The compass is good to have on hand because I insert into the teaching lots of points where we pull out the compass and draw what we are talking about. Students really enjoy this but it only works if the compass is right there for them to use.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I've been certified in the public schools for teaching math in middle and high schools. I received additional certified training for gifted and talented learners. I taught math for sixteen years and I've been a personal SAT tutor for seven years. My students have typically raised their scores between 100 and 300 points. As a chemical engineer and project management professional in the world of business consulting and information technology consulting, I've completed over five levels of college calculus and applied mathematics and used these math and computing skills throughout my career.
