This One-Time class will cover the nature of Spartan society and its origins under the Lycurgan reforms during the Archaic Period of Greek History which lead to the formation of an elite, warrior society. Class will consist of a very well-researched presentation which will explore all aspects of Spartan society: government, education, social aspects and, of course, the military aspects of the Spartans. Students can share their impressions about this unprecedented and unique social experiment in Ancient History and bring their own knowledge to class about these enigmatic people of Ancient Greece.

Students will learn about the Spartan Constitution.
Students will learn about the education of boys and girls in Sparta.
Students will learn about the Spartan military as an instrument and an institution.
Students will learn about Spartan hoplites and their fighting methods.

My passion is Military History, which I have been enthusiastically studying my entire life. My present RPG classes involve a number of embedded lessons learned (empathy, teamwork, problem solving, decision-making, etc.) through the Three Pillars of Adventure: Exploration, Role-playing, and Fantasy Combat. My Battles & Generals classes are akin to an "On-Going, interactive discussion-based documentary" as one student put it not too long ago....and that seems about right.Reseñas
