Join The Young Adventurers' Society!

Each week, the teacher will choose an article, video, or podcast from a reputable scholarly source for other members to study. Subjects will be diverse and culturally all-encompassing. A few examples include:
- What was family life like in the Roman Empire?
- How did the Ancient Egyptians make mummies?
- Why was Emperor Qin Shi Huang buried with a terracotta army?
- What can we learn about a culture from their cemeteries?
- What are some of the "myths" we perpetuate about people who lived in the Stone Age?
- How did people in the past treat and cure certain diseases?
- New archaeological discoveries in places like Mexico, South Africa, Norway, and beyond!

Ongoing engagement in the class will give students an opportunity to learn about different cultures from all over the world, and incorporate humanities such as history, social studies, ethnography, and anthropology, right alongside sciences such as geology, chemistry, medicine, anatomy, and osteology. Students are welcome to request topics and best efforts will be made to accommodate a wide variety of each student's interests.

Sept 25 - Oct 1: What is the Book of the Dead, and how would YOU prepare for the Egyptian afterlife?
Oct 2 - 8: Where did Witch Trials originate, and why did they happen?
Oct 9 - 15: What are superstitions, and what do they teach us about culture?
Oct 16 - 22: Why do so many cultures have legends about the “undead”?
Oct 23 - 29: What is a curse and how do they work?
Oct 30 - Nov 5: What are legends, and why are these stories important?
Nov 6 - Nov 12: News in archaeology: discovery of the "Tomb of Cerberus"
