This course is a private tutoring course for Reading. I will work directly with the parents to determine a set of goals for the learner. This course is for learners who may feel more comfortable with specialized attention or an individualized learning plan. We will focus on different word families each week as well as a few sight words. We will put everything that we learned together to read fun and simple stories. This will be done in a high energy, fun and interactive way.

Each class meeting will follow a similar pattern, so that the learner will know what to expect. Students will start by learning to sound out cvc words (a consonant, vowel, and a consonant) also know as word families. Students will also learn basic sight words. We will then read a short story using the words that we learned. As students grow in their reading skills we will add 4-5 letter words as a part of the word family lists. Students will get a pdf copy of the word list to practice with between classes. Students will also get a pdf copy of the story read in class as well as a few other short stories using the cvc words learned in class. The difficulty of these activities will grow with the learner; more advanced material will be taught as the learner shows readiness.
