In this course students will be taught specific phonics skills aligning to their current abilities in order to help them grow as readers. We will cover phonemic awareness as well as phonics skills in the form of building and manipulating words and sounds, reading and understanding decodable passages, writing and application of phonics skills. - Students will improve their understanding and application of specific phonics skills allowing them to be more fluent readers.
I have a master's in Reading and Writing and have spent 5 years teaching 2nd graders how to read and phonics skills. During these 5 years I have also provided reading interventions in order to close gaps and build fluent readers.
This class is intentionally designed to give your struggling reader what they need to learn and grow. It will focus on phonics skills that might be a gap for your student and can also reinforce skills being taught currently in their class.
