In this course students will be taught specific phonics skills aligning to their current abilities in order to help them grow as readers. We will cover phonemic awareness as well as phonics skills in the form of building and manipulating words and sounds, reading and understanding decodable passages, writing and application of phonics skills. Students will need a whiteboard (alternate could be a whiteboard pocket sheet, sheet protector with piece of paper), a whiteboard marker, and something to erase with. All phonics and reading instruction will be based on students current level and skill.

This class is intentionally designed to give your struggling reader what they need to learn and grow. It will focus on phonics skills that might be a gap for your student and can also reinforce skills being taught currently in their class.
