This class will introduce the concept of using roman numerals to represent the chords within a major or minor key. Following an introductory segment, learners will analyse a short piece of music, firstly by having a go independently, then by sharing answers as a group to check for the correct answers and discuss any alternative interpretations. - Learners will practice identifying which chord(s) can be made up of given notes in a piece of music. Learners will be able to match chords within a major/minor key to the appropriate roman numeral symbol.
I am a violinist and play in Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra (UK) and Anlaby Strings (UK). I have completed ABRSM Grade 8 Music Theory and AMusTCL diploma with Distinction grades.
Learners should be confident in reading notes in the treble clef.
Writing materials to keep note of your independent analysis would be useful.
