Over four weeks, students will learn literary terms and tropes alongside Season 1 of the Netflix show, Stranger Things. Each week, students will be expected to watch a few episodes of the show to be prepared for the class discussion. 

Week One: (Before the first class, students need to have watched: Chapter One: The Vanishing of Will Byers and Chapter Two: The Weirdo on Maple Street) Introductory Lecture: Literary Influences Behind Stranger Things, Literary Term Vocabulary (Allusion, Diction, Alliteration, Allegory, Colloquialism, Euphemism, Personification, Onomatopoeia, Symbolism, Tone, Flashbacks, Foreshadowing, Imagery, Juxtaposition, Metaphor/Simile), Activity: The Plot Pyramid and the Pilot Episode.

Week Two: (Students should have watched Chapter Three: Holly Jolly and Chapter Four: The Body) Lecture- Character Tropes and Archetypes: Exploring Characterization with Stranger Things. Activity: Identifying character tropes and archetypes within the cast of characters, and episode discussion. 

Week Three: (Students should have watched Chapter Five: The Flea and The Acrobat and Chapter Six: The Monster) Lecture- Conflict Within A Narrative. Activity: Students will dissect the show's central conflict, as well as identify the side plots and conflicts, and episode discussion. 

Week Four: (Students should have watched Chapter Six: The Bathtub and Chapter Eight: The Upside Down) Lecture-Exploring Allegory: What Can We Learn from Our Favorite Stories? Activity: Students will discuss the use of allegory in the context of Stranger Things, as well as offer their final thoughts on Season 1.
