The dragons will be started in class but not completely finished, so students can add more details and take their time to really perfect their drawings. Since they will then have the ability to draw any type of dragon, they can make an entire colored or black and white dragon guide book on their own time as desired. Students will also be encouraged to take a photo of their finished drawing posted on the classroom page after class, so the class can have a virtual art show.
Evaluación
There will be no formal assessment, but I will look at each dragon to give the students help as needed and to encourage them to continue their with their creative drawing skills.

Experiencia de clase

In this one-time art class, I’ll teach each student how to draw both Eastern dragons like Mushu from Disney’s "Mulan" and Western dragons like Toothless from Dreamwork’s "How to Train your Dragon" series. I will demonstrate one step at a time on my whiteboard as each students copies that step onto their own paper. As students draw, they can show me their dragons as needed on the camera, so I can offer individual help. In addition, students will also learn how they can alter the steps I demonstrate in order to create a variety of dragons. I’ll also be explaining as students draw, the history and mythology of the dragons seen in movies and tv shows, read in books, and created in art, and why the styles of dragons are different in Western versus Eastern cultures. Once the class is finished, I’ll give each student access to a step-by-step guide that has a picture of each step demonstrated in class and written directions, so students can continue to draw as many dragons as they wish even after the class ends.
