This 15-week self-paced course will provide seven different art units targeted for 5th and 6th grade students. Each unit will cover a different artist, art movement, and/ or art culture and will teach students how to manipulate various art media, both 2D and 3D, better preparing students for upper middle school art. Once the course begins, parents will be given a new unit every 2 weeks which will include the learning goals and final project. An extra week will be allotted after the final unit to give students more time as needed to finish all 7 units. Students will start each unit by learning about its art history portion. Students will then complete a sketch assignment both to brainstorm ideas and to better understand the media of the project and its major concepts before completing a final project based upon the art history. An instructional video of me modeling each step will show students how to finish the sketches and final project. Step-by-step guides will also be as a PDF, so students can print out the steps and/ or view them electronically as well while following along with the video. Photos of finished sketches and projects will also be given as well. After completing each project, students will post a photo of their finished project on the class page for positive feedback. Feedback will be given within 2 school days of the student's post.
