This class is for learners who want to practice drawing animals, and making them look more realistic! Each week we use photo references to practice our realistic drawing skills. For each lesson I demonstrate step-by-step how to draw a new animal, giving individual feedback along the way. My goal is not only to teach students how to draw a particular animal, but to help them practice the skills they need to draw anything they want! Students are encouraged to use their creativity to add or change details, as well as adding finishing touches (outline? color? shade? background? more characters? it's up to you!). Here are our upcoming subjects for January: Paws & Claws month! MONDAY class: Feb. 3: Japanese dwarf flying squirrel! Feb. 10: Golden retriever! Feb. 17: Borneo squirrel! Feb. 24: Sloth! FRIDAY class: Feb. 7: Purple finch! Feb. 14: Caracal! Feb. 21: American kestrel! Feb. 28: White cat! Lessons are interactive and I welcome student participation! At the last meeting of the month, we will spend a few of our class minutes to suggest animals for the next month’s syllabus. There is a different theme for each month, so we get to draw a variety of different animals! We also make time each week ************************************************************** If you're new to Outschool you can follow this link for some handy tips to get started! https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/802757-how-to-prepare-for-your-first-class To see more of Ms. Kristy's classes, visit my teacher profile here: https://outschool.com/teachers/Kristine-Mankin#us3u0MdGLD

I have taught drawing for many years, and in my observation the most effective way to teach good drawing skills is to demonstrate them. Drawing together with my students gives me the perfect forum to illustrate drawing techniques while helping them to build the critical thinking and observational skills they need to continue working on their own. My goal is to build my students' skills and confidence as young artists!
