As history progressed humans changed from a species of nomadic hunters to city dwelling laborers. Life became safer, more enclosed, and less dependent on communal living. Of course there's no question modern life has its many perks, yet it's important to note, sometimes the divide between "what we were" and "what we now are" is, unknowingly to us, maximizing our misery. Human behaviors and emotions are beautifully complex but we all have habits that hinder and impact them. Frankly, it really isn't our fault. Our brain is a a rage of tug and war, being pulled and pushed in different directions by chemicals like dopamine, cortisol, serotonin and oxytocin They cause us to act and respond in different ways, ways that may not slot in perfectly with modern life. That's why we practice BRAIN HACKING. "Brain Hacking" is the conscious cultivation of habits and methods that help pivot our brains from focusing on instant gratification to long term success, from indulgent misery to genuine happiness. Here, students will get a starting point with which they can begin to understand what's going on in their minds and tips on how to tinker their behavior towards beneficial habits and accessible self awareness. Class Topics: 1.Dopamine and Serotonin: Types of Happiness -How to go from the decent now to the great later. 2. Oxytocin: Morality and Love -Creating wonderful relationships with longevity. 3. Cortisol: The Search for Optimal Stress -The balance between to little on your plate and too much. -SMARTIE goals: Class exercise
