Class Experience

US Grade 10 - 12
Beginner Level
The overall A&P program is broken down into smaller unit studies which are also broken down into chapters. Each chapter is further broken down into lessons. There are between 3 and 6 lessons per chapter, including the final chapter test. A new chapter will be added to the school page every two weeks until the entire program has been added. Each lesson is then broken down into a video that teaches the topic, readings that delve a bit deeper, problem-based activities, and Quizzlets.

This setup provides a way to reduce the overwhelming feeling that sometimes comes up when we are faced with a daunting task while also allowing students and parents to choose to take the entire course, or just the units and chapters they are interested in learning.

There will be 6 Units and 17 Chapter

Unit 1; Levels of Organization
Chapter 1; Structure and Function
Chapter 2; Chemistry of Living Things
Chapter 3; Cells
Chapter 4; Tissues and Membranes

Unit 2; Support and Movement
Chapter 5; Integumentary System
Chapter 6; Skeletal
Chapter 7; Muscular

Unit 3; Regulation, Integration and Control
Chapter 8; Nervous
Chapter 9; Senses
Chapter 10; Endocrine

Unit 4; Fluids and Transport
Chapter 11; Circulatory
Chapter 12; Lymphatic/Immune

Unit 5; Energy, Maintenance, and Environmental Exchange
Chapter 13; Respiratory
Chapter 14; Digestive
Chapter 15; Urinary

Unit 6; Human Development
Chapter 16; Reproductive
Chapter 17; Genetics

Though this progam is self-paced, I am always available for help or guidance if needed through email or video. Though I hold students to a high standard I understand that standard is different for each student. I believe the best way to learn in through guidance as a learner progresses. Though I can provide grades if requested, I focus mostly on providing critical feedback that will help guide the student to a better understanding. I see mistakes as learning points and not as something that is bad or needed to be avoided at the cost of true effort.

This first course is Chapter 1 (Structure and Function) of Unit 1 (Levels of Organization).

Learning Goals

Integration of Structure and Function: Emphasize the interdependence between anatomy and physiology.
Homeostasis: Reinforce the concept of homeostasis across all levels of organization, from the chemical level to tissues.
